The Borgarting appeals court has convicted SAS Braathens (Norway) of industrial espionage against competitor low-fare airline Norwegian. Norwegian will now sue for damages.
The Oslo court has ordered SAS Norway to pay a NOK 4 million fine.
The court ruled that SAS had obtained and used confidential information from rival airline Norwegian through the Amadeus booking system, from December 2001 until December 2005.
A lower court had earlier acquitted SAS Norway from the charges filed by state prosecutors.
Norwegian will now sue SAS for damages, "for a considerable sum of money", to quote Norwegian CEO Bjoern Kjos.
SAS Norway Chief, Ola Strand, sais he waas surprised and disappointed by the appeals court ruling.
