Hundreds of Monks Brutally Murdered

An electronic message from Burma suggests that the brutal military dictatorship is slaughtering hundreds, possibly even thousands of Monks. After shutting down telephone and internet access, the military has raided the monasteries of the Monks who were protesting and brutally murdered them.

This follows the largest protests in 20 years.

This is an example of the way in which new media technology can serve as a means of distributing information about a global issue of social justice and bring that issue into the local sphere.
